Harry S Truman took office when Roosevelt died shortly into his fourth term. World War II was nearing the end and Truman made the decision to use the Atomic Bomb against Japan. Truman was very concerned of the rise of Communism and created the Truman Doctrine to help aid small countries from being threatened by Communist forces. Truman helped form NATO to help maintain peace throughout the world in the post World War II era.
